Merrill Lynch Settles for $550 Million

A Securities and Exchange Commission filing shows that Merrill Lynch & Co. has agreed to pay $550 million to settle two class-action lawsuits that accused it of failing to inform investors of the risks associated with its subprime mortgage investments for which the $70 billion Ohio State Teachers Retirement System was lead plaintiff.
